Will(s)

The wood doesn't want to be burnt.
The matchstick strikes
Fire embraces the unwilling wood.
Smoke Smoke Smoke,
The chimney- victim of the wood's ire
Gray skies, polluted lungs.
Cough Cough Cough.
The war continues,
Burn Burn Burn,
The fire eats the defiant wood,
Victorious fire, defeated wood,
Eyes reflect the crackling fire,
Hands comforted by hot 'martyred' wood,
But the wood did not want to burn,
Enter Fire, exit wood,
And there was,
Ash Ash Ash.
The wood did not want to burn.

The refrain is inspired by Modest Mouse.

can the logic of un'will'ingwood be extended to tobacco as well....may be it also doesn't want to be burned.....to be held responsible for million deaths(megadeaths) around the planet....to be villified in that manner.
Cigarette packets usually carry an interesting content message ....
carbon monoxide ..x mlgrams
nicotine.........y miligrams
carbon dioxide.....z mlgrams
carcinogenic compounds.....s mlgrams etc etc

interesting post otherwise.....i wonder how a non-smoker can see the wood struggling there....

and yes finally when it reaches the filter .....fire also struggles...it sruggles to avoid the inevitable....suddenly the cigarette glows bright for a while and then dies out...and is then stubbed

aren't we lucky that we live in a city where it's hot enough that we needn't burn reluctant wood?

Kobi,
I am thinking of committing suicide at the Mariana Trench. Whatsay?

Arbit,
You quite got the superficial implication of the poem. But like Kobi said, it is quite deep :P

Banshee,
Feel free to book a ticket to Alaska. You can say hi to Sarah Palin as well.

Sooper,
I like their lyrics. They are soo depressing. :)
